Senior System Engineer

Recornect is a dynamic and fast-growing company that focuses on delivering safe, digital, and personalized media walls. The solution provided serves therapeutic, comfort and educational purposes to support vulnerable clients. Recornect is active in, among others, mental health care and correctional facilities . Recornect products are supplied in Western Europe and North America.  

Recornect develops both the hardware and software of the Cowin media walls. In this role, you are responsible for the for both the hardware (mechanical and electrical) development of our products and the system integration. You supervise the product development that is outsourced with selected partners. During the system integration phase you are responsible for all the system level testing. You will make sure that the product is handed over to Operations in good order, including the necessary documentation. You will also make sure our system is safe and compliant with industry standards. You will be a linking pin between the Product team and Operations, you must be able  to manage cross-department relationships.

Objectives of the role:

  • Design, develop and maintain hardware, both mechanics and electronics, where needed through the supervision of external engineering teams
  • Conduct research and feasibility studies to determine the technical and economic viability of proposed hardware designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product owners, product designers, and Operations.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, schematics, and test plans.
  • Test and evaluate systems to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Provide input for integrated solutions to support room automation solutions such as lighting and climate control.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system related issues and provide technical support to internal teams.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and advancements in Software/Hardware engineering and incorporate them into the design process.
  • Participate in design reviews, provide feedback, and suggest improvements to enhance the performance and reliability of the product.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth production of hardware products.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices in system design and development.

Skills

  • Experience in mechanical and electronic design and engineering
  • Experience in writing (test) specifications, design documents and manuals
  • Experience in testing and validating hardware/software integrations
  • Experience with EMC standards and UL/CE certifications
  • Knowledge of communication protocols for computers and room automation such as UART, TCP/IP, Bluetooth, DALI, and MODBUS
  • Experience with AV solutions and/or embedded systems is a plus
