Safer control of tension in custodial institutions

The percentage of people in custodial institutions with a psychological disorder is increasing every year. The latest statistics show it to be above 50% in the Netherlands and 85% in Germany. This is turning custodial institutions into a kind of storage facility for people with inappropriate behaviour or psychiatric disorders. This often also leads to a great deal of tension among prisoners too and resulting in staff at custodial institutions being more like guards than coaches in a return to society. The focus is on safety and keeping control. Recornect’s innovative solutions can be deployed in custodial institutions for communication purposes, de-escalation and diversion.

Media wall suitable for spaces with high security requirements

The CoWin media wall can be deployed in custodial institutions as a safe solution for de-escalation and diversion. The medial wall gives staff of custodial institutions tools with which to offer each inmate a personalised selection, suited to the situation and the capacities of the detainee. The selection can also be adapted to take into account differences in language and culture. The media wall can be installed in cells and complies with the highest security standards. Because there is less budget available in custodial institutions for tools and treatment, in addition to the regular CoWin media wall, Recornect also offers the Judiciary Television. This is a simplified version of the media wall which can act as a starter model.

At present, Recornect has at its disposal the CoWin-48 and the CoWin-32. Both media walls are suitable for deployment in spaces which have to comply with high security requirements. The effect of the COWIN-48 is enhanced thanks to the large size of the screen. which increases the sensation of actually being in the world being displayed.
