Medbo Regensburg is an acute and forensic psychiatry clinic and one of Recornect's first clients in South Germany. Medbo started a pilot with two CoWin media walls, in 2017, deployed in the forensic unit. The pilot turned out to be very successful and shortly after, another two media walls were added: one in the acute psychiatry unit and one in the apartment of a long-stay client.

Medbo staff experience the deployment of the CoWin media wall as a powerful support, that offers relief to both clients and psychiatric staff in stressful and very stressful incidents and escalations. We evaluated the deployment of the CoWin media wall in the time-out space of the acute psychiatry unit with Medbo, and we're happy to report the following positive results on their behalf:

-Less fixation by clients thanks to de-escalation in an early stage
-Less aggression in the unit
-A reduction in work pressure
-A good feeling about the humane approach using the CoWin media wall.

With the help of the CoWin media wall, clients in isolation can be supervised by staff, but still from close by, leading to some restoration of self-management and with that, the onset of relaxation. For example, Medbo itself has put together a document listing rights and steps that staff can upload to the CoWin media wall in the event of crisis. Many clients find it a positive thing that they're not left guessing about their fate but that they know roughly what to expect, are aware of their rights and can subsequently discuss this.

At Medbo, client acceptance of the CoWin is high and the media wall is used intensively, even by clients who are severely distraught. Partly on the basis of these significant benefits in practice, Medbo has further expanded the deployment of CoWin with four CoWin media walls in the forensic unit.
